Watermark ID offers both manual and automated sprinkler layout. You can select sprinkler symbols from the more than 700 available or make your own. Sprinkler equipment in the database includes Rain Bird, Hunter and Toro, Weather-matic and Nelson. Salco emitters are also included. Many irrigation design programs place sprinklers on a grid, but Watermark ID places them according to best fit and actually looks at the amount of water delivered by each sprinkler. Sprinklers may also be laid out along a line, allowing for quick placement of median or road edge sprinklers.

Lateral pipe can be assigned one of many pipe types in the database. Pipe performance in the database is based on the latest information supplied by the Irrigation Association. Remote control valves are available for Hunter, Rain Bird and Toro products. Valves may be selected in a series by size, allowing for easy valve size assignment. The Size Lateral command only requires the selection of the attached valve. Once selected, pipes are sized, pipe sizes are placed in the drawing, the valve is sized and a designator created, and a table is generated describing the performance of the lateral.

![]() Irrigation Design Efficiency Analysis (IDEA) Create a densogram and calculate the Distribution Uniformity (DU) and Scheduling Coefficient (SC) for rotor sprinkler layouts. Densograms and calculations can be created for any shaped area. Swap out sprinklers and change pressures to see which layout produces the best DU and SC. Polyethylene drip laterals, complete with drip remote control valve kits, zone control valves, and buried manifold pipe between the zone controls, can be easily inserted into a Watermark ID drawing.

Hard pipe drip, an increasingly popular option in the desert Southwest, is available in Watermark ID. Options exist for tree, shrub and ground cover laterals. The end nodes of the pipe are assigned flows and the pipe is sized using the Size Lateral command.

The newest addition to Watermark ID is the ability to create Line Source Drip layouts. Once the drip area has been entered, options for emitter flow, distance between emitters and distance between rows can be entered. The interior pipe can be displayed or not as desired. Flows are calculated and laterals can be created with one or more drip zone. Once the lateral has been created the valve is sized using the Size Lateral routine. Changes to the flow, spacing and other parameters can be easily made using the properties command.

Quantity take offs can be easily produced with Watermark ID. You can get equipment quantities for the entire drawing or a specified area. Quantities can be exported to many formats including Microsoft Excel for use in cost calculations. Add the effective area, plant type and crop coefficient of the lateral to the information stored in the remote control valve and the program calculates the precipitation rate and run time for that valve. Watermark ID can then create a report of the irrigation schedule that can be exported in multiple file formats.
